Kade gets a Big Boy Room! As part of the Remodeling Guy's Spring Round-up I decided to share our recent re-do
of Kade's Big Boy Room. This room used to be shared by Kade and his little sister. Since she was so small and in a crib she went to bed early... one thing Kade has never done. In preperation for school we decided the time had come! We moved Karlee to share with Kati our niece who will be home for the summer and Kade's room got a facelift!

My custom Art Work!
Bad news is I did not get a before picture... Hubby moved the furniture out while I was not home. Trust me when I say the room was crowded with Karlee's crib and all the furniture you now see and toys and junk!
The entire makeover only cost $30.00 for wood fence pickets that we installed like a chair rail and the paint and wisk broom we used for our denim treatment.
Here are the steps:
1. Remove everything from the room.
2. Paint the bottom half of the wall with Bayer paint in denim blue color.
3. While the paint is wet drag a wisk broom through the paint to create the "denim look". I wanted the Ralph Lauren denim treatment but as I stood in the Home Depot and read that the treatment took three days to complete I said no way... we will just do this...
4. Use overhead and clip art from internet to draw the bucking horse outline on the wall. Harder than I originally thought it might be since I was drawing on textured walls!
5. Use leftover brown paint from half bath to fill in the Custom Mural! My husband commented that he did not know that I had such "Mad art skills!"
6. Allow paint to dry and install wood fence pickets. Hubby's job... He cut the ends of the pickets to be straight and then nailed them to the wall. Thank you!!!
7. Clean out drawers and closet of all Baby girl stuff!
8. Re-arrange furniture and hang pictures.
9. End Result One happy little Buck-a-Roo! There you have it a Texas style little boys room makeover. I apologize I am not the best photographer...

What a cool cowboy theme :) It's nice that you did it in a way that can grow with him.
